Let’s Fly, Louis Vuitton

So I’m currently in Korea and there are a lot of different exhibitions and festivals going on this summer, and today I visited the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) and went to the Louis Vuitton Exhibition, Volez Voguez Voyagez.

Volaz, Voguez, Voyagez is running from June 8 to August 27 at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza and it’s free as well! You can easily get there by subway (which is what I did) by getting off at the Dongdaemun History and Culture Park Station, exit 1.

*** don’t forget to reserve your spot online at https://lvseoulvvv.co.kr/main. If you don’t make a reservation, there is a separate line set up for on-site visitors, but the waiting time can be as long as one hour.***

The exhibition basically takes you through the evolution of Louis Vuitton from 1854, and displays a variety of items, ranging from sketches, clothing, and bags. There are about 10 different sections to the exhibition, each one displaying a theme including travelling, curious carriers, and one section that is exclusive to Korea.

There is also an app you can download on both android and iphones, which you can use as an audio guide during the exhibition. If audio guides are not your thing, then there is also a docent guided tour but make sure to reserve early for this because most of these tours are already fully booked.

The picture above is actually part of the sailing section of the exhibition, which was actually one of my favourites. Even the room of this section was themed as a sailing boat, with the items on display on a boat-like surface.

Another one of my favourite sections was the celebrity section. This part of the exhibition displayed not only evening dresses and outfits but also the carriers in which brushed and makeup were held.

The exhibition was such a great experience but because it’s free and there are a lot of people that wait in line for the on-site visit (without reservation), I would suggest that you go on a weekday, when it is a little less busy.

*** at the end of the exhibition, they are giving out free codes for kakaotalk emoticons, so don’t forget to pick one up on your way out! ***

bye bye for now!
